Woman Desperate To Find Missing Engagement Ring

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/CBS 2) -- A Rye woman is desperately seeking her diamond engagement ring and family heirloom, which she says was lost on her way home from her Midtown Manhattan job.

Delia McCabe told 1010 WINS Monday that she had been running around to a number of doctors' appointments at Columbia Medical Center the day before Thanksgiving, when she lost the ring.

McCabe said she remembers seeing the ring last when visiting a new doctor and telling him that she had recently gotten married.

Following a series of additional appointments, McCabe said she was "frantically getting back to work" on the A, C and E line subway and was stunned to discover the ring missing when she returned home that evening and took off her gloves.

"I look at the ring a few times a day just because it's relatively new and it is a beautiful piece," McCabe said, "it was such a crazy day that I just didn't even look at the hand from that doctor's appointment until I got home."

McCabe got the word out through fliers posted at doctors' offices and sites around the train station to her office. McCabe even posted a missing items ad on Craigslist.

The diamond was passed down from the great grandmother of McCabe's husband.

If anyone finds the ring, they are asked to contact the NYPD.

McCabe said she and her husband have not talked about a specific amount, but said there would "absolutely" be a reward.
