Police Investigate Mysterious Death Of Westchester Mom

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (CBS 2) — Police in Westchester County are looking into the death of a Mamaroneck woman, whose body was discovered late Thursday night.

The investigation began with a phone call to Mamaroneck police, asking them to check on 49-year-old Jennifer Katz at her home on Baldwin Place.

Katz lived with her two daughters in a home now cordoned off and guarded by police. Neighbors said the woman’s daughters left more than a week ago to be with their father, who lives in North Carolina.

CBS 2 has learned that police have identified a person of interest in the case.  That individual is believed to be a man, who was doing work around the house for the victim.

Neighbors – including Judy Solomon — who spoke to CBS 2’s Dave Carlin said no one had seen the woman for days.

Solomon described Katz as “very friendly” and “helpful” and said the entire situation was “scary” because “we don’t know what the details are.”

Police will not say how Katz was murdered, but have ruled out a suicide, Carlin reported.

For now, Investigators will spend their New Year’s Eve trying to unravel the woman’s mysterious death and hoping someone comes forward with information.

Would a backgeound check of the handy man really helped to safe this woman’s life??? More to the point, my was she invloved with the ex-boyfriend garbarge man who introduced her to his convicted murderer brother? Sounds very strange….then the ex-boyfriends hangs on until to move on from the relationship. Victim’s neighbor stated the ex was last seen Xmas eve…what is his story…did he bring the loser brother in to kill her?

A real cast of characters includeing the other jackleg Bishop brother who petitioned the parole board for the convicted murderer’s release with the full support of his Church.

Always check backgrounds of contractors! We are in Court due to a flim flam man (from Pt. Chester) who advertised locally and talked a big talk. Your family and your home is AT RISK when you leave unknown characters in. Condolences to the Katz family for this terrible tragedy.
