Towns typically average out the snow fall amounts over decades of winters and use that average to balance their budget heading into winter. For Greenwich, the average is 35 inches.
One town worker, shovel in hand, said it's hard work.
"We basically worked non-stop, full crews for quite a while," the worker told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane. "…I would say until Thursday night."
Highway Superintendent Joseph Roberto told the Greenwich Time the town used 60 town highway employees, 30 park workers and private contractors to remove over 10,000 cubic yards of snow with more left.
A sanitation department spokesperson in New York City, meanwhile, said the City spent $20 million of its $38.5 million snow budget in the after Christmas blizzard.
