Court: NY Man Had Cocaine, Not 'Cooked Rabbit' In Luggage

NEW YORK (AP) -- Prosecutors say a Queens man who told airport customs inspectors he was carrying a "cooked rabbit" in his luggage actually had three bricks of cocaine.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Brooklyn federal court, Roger Levans got off a Delta Airlines flight from Georgetown, Guyana on Dec. 29. The New York Daily News says when customs officials asked him what kind of food items he was carrying, he said "cooked rabbit."

The complaint says two of his suitcases contained fruits and vegetables. The cocaine was found in a third suitcase.

There was no cooked rabbit.

Levans was released on $100,000 bail. He said in an affidavit that he works as a security guard at Yankee Stadium.

Federal defender Heidi Cesare had no immediate comment on the arrest.
