WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reports

Attendance is up nearly 4 percent this season to date.

"That's pretty terrific in a down economy," says the Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin.

She says that in the aftermath of last week's blizzard, theaters had their busiest week ever.

"Tourism is up in New York City and, perhaps, there were a few people who couldn't leave. I know we had good walk-in traffic," says St. Martin.

You might see irony there because Mayor Michael Bloomberg was ridiculed for suggesting people forget the storm by going to see a show.
