HARTFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - This year, the number of people here in Connecticut who must choose between paying rent, buying food, or paying for home heating oil is growing.
Operation Fuel is a charitable organization they might turn to, but, says director Pat Rice, the organization is struggling to meet the demand.
Rising fuel costs are spreading the dollars thin.
Rice is making a broad appeal for donations.
“The weather does, you know, have people realize, ‘Oh my goodness! What would it be like if I had to sit and have no heat in my home?’.”
It’s easy enough to donate.
Connecticut residents need only check off the ‘add a dollar program’ on their utility bill, or contribute directly to the Operation Fuel website.
