Woman Gives Birth By Garden State Parkway

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (AP) — This baby wouldn’t wait to get to the hospital.

A woman gave birth around 6:35 a.m. Monday in a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway. Her husband delivered the child before rescue workers could reach their car.

State Police Sgt. Kevin Marron told The Press of Woodland Park: “It’s crazy, but everyone’s good.”

The birth happened along the northbound lanes of the toll road just south of its interchange with Interstate 80.  An ambulance eventually arrived and took the mother and baby to a hospital.

Their names weren’t immediately released.

Surprised the Ambulance arrived at all! With all the cuts in the Medical Services in NJ, you be lucky to even get a phone response. Try dialing 911 in NJ, and chances are very high they put you on hold forever.
