UConn RB McCombs Suspended Indefinitely After Drug Arrest

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut has suspended freshman running back Lyle McCombs from the football team following his arrest on drug charges.

Campus police say they arrested McCombs Sunday and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after finding him in a dormitory with less than 4 ounces of marijuana.

He is due in court on Jan. 25.

The athletic department issued a statement saying the 18-year old from Staten Island, N.Y. has been suspended indefinitely. McCombs did not play during his freshman season. He did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.
