Suffolk County police say the woman was pronounced dead early Thursday morning inside her Mastic home. The Suffolk County police homicide and arson squad is investigating.

Police say the woman’s husband called 911 at 12:30 a.m. to report the fire.

The woman, Laura Vitagliano, had multiple sclerosis and was in a wheelchair.

They say the Neptune Avenue house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Tony and Laura slept in separate rooms because of her condition and the fact that Tony had a few feet of intestine removed only about 3 weeks ago to combat Diverticulitis… I know if he could have done anything to save her he would have.
