NEW YORK (AP/CBSNewYork) -- Police said a man was arrested after making an illegal U-turn in Jamaica, Queens and officers found nunchucks in his back seat.

Police also found nail polish remover, fertilizer pellets and some metal shavings, but authorities do not believe the items were used for anything threatening.

Police do not believe the items were linked to any bomb or would be used as materials in a bomb, but the nunchucks are illegal.

Sources told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria that the suspect, 44-year-old Edward Vassel told police he makes crystals.

Vassel was earlier held at a police precinct. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.

Nunchucks are a traditional Asian weapon consisting of two sticks connected at their ends with a short chain or rope.
