One World Trade Center Passes Halfway Mark

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Port Authority Executive Director Chris Ward was beaming as he said great progress is being made on the construction of One World Trade Center.

WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb with Chris Ward

“Now, coming down the West Side Highway, coming from the Holland Tunnel, you can see the twin cranes at the top,” Ward told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb. “It’s over the Verizon building. We’re at the 56th story.”

By this fall, he says, it’ll be remarkable.

“Well, when we all gather and the world looks down on that site on the ten year anniversary, they’re gonna see a 85 to 90-story structure.”

Right now, he says we’re a little more than half way.

When One World Trade Tower is complete, and people who only know it as a proposal drawing can finally see it for what it will be — a monumental but refined work of sculpture — I believe many ot its critics will fall silent. This futuristic obelisk is going to be the most elegant addition to the Manhattan skyline since the Seagram Building. Remember, many in 19th century France deplored plans for the Eiffel Tower until it was finished. And in the 20th century, they protested plans for the glass pyramid at the Louvre. Now Paris is unthinkable without them.

It may be years later since the 9/11 attack, but when those doors open, it will be a triumph victory for our country. Let freedom ring.

One more thing, even if Osama bin Laden is never caught in this world, rest assured he will spend eternity in living Hell!!! For there is no God in this world or any other who would assert Praise for such evil!!! And there is only One God!! The Osama’s and the Hitler’s will certainly face Him…..If he is caught, He should hang from the top of the new tower for all to see…..but that would not be politically correct now would it…or would it?

Construction jobs at Ground Zero are doled out to friends and relatives of the business agents. If you aren’t related to, or if you don’t know, an influential person in the local union’s hierarchy, you sit at the Union Hall begging for crumbs

Bravo! Well done! You’re well on your way to “Troll Of The Year 2011”! You’ve got my nomination!

No one will work in that building only because there are no jobs. By the way, anyone catch Bin Laden yet?

One WTC will be occupied by NYS government offices and the Conde Nast publishing company.

I will work in that building.

If you are “terror”fied of working in the building, the terrorists have won.

  • Hale Merry

I wonder how long this one will last. You would have to be nuts to even consider working in that building!

    • Michael H.

I’d work in that building in a heartbeat. Good job letting the terrorists win!
