Snow Guide: Commuter Resources

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It's been a rough day for commuters following the latest winter storm.  Here are some helpful links and information to keep you in the know before you head out.

From LIRR: The LIRR has restored passenger service. According to a phone message, the LIRR plans to operate on a normal AM Rush Hour schedule. Read more from LIRR

From Metro-North: For Friday, January 28, Metro-North anticipates operating a regular weekday schedule. On the New Haven Line, customers should expect crowding due to ongoing weather-related equipment shortages. Busing will continue to be in effect on the Waterbury Branch due to weather-related equipment shortages.

From MTA: The MTA has restored service on most of its commuter rail, subway and bus network. We anticipate running near normal service on most lines for the evening rush hour. Work continues to remove snow and ice from tracks, switches, stations and roadways. Read more from the MTA

From NJT: Roughly half of the NJTransit routes are operating on-time. There are service changes to some NJTransit routes. Read more from NJTransit

Most bus service has been restored across the state following earlier service suspensions due to local road conditions. Rail service is operating on all lines with scattered 10-15 minute delays. Customers are reminded that train cancelations/combinations are possible throughout the day. Read more from NJT

From Subways/Buses: The subway system is operating at near normal levels, with service restored on all lines. SIRTOA is operating limited service between Tottenville and St. George. Planned service changes affecting subway service for this evening through Friday afternoon, January 28, are canceled for snow removal. The majority of bus service has been restored with minor detours and scattered weather related delays. Routes not in operation are being evaluated and restored on a route by route basis.

From Access-A-Ride & Able Ride: Service remains cancelled for Thursday except for trips of medical necessity (e.g., dialysis, radiation treatment or chemotherapy). Customers who need to travel to such an appointment should call reservations in advance. Get phone numbers here

Motorists: AccuWeather warns temperatures will drop below freezing Thursday night. Any melted snow will refreeze on untreated roads and walkways. Read more winter tips
