2 Dead In New Haven Shootings

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Two New Haven men have been killed and a third man injured in what police say was a shooting at a house known for drug use and dealing.

New Haven police say they responded to a report of a triple shooting Saturday night. Two men, 32-year-old Michael Fernandez and 25-year-old Marquis Sumler, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.

Police say they later died in area hospitals.

Samuel Maebry, also of New Haven, had gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg and is expected to survive. Police say the 32-year-old Maebry refused to give information to police.

Police say they are withholding details because the investigation is continuing.

Where is that stat from? Some stats I look at (State Master, for one) show those states at the lowest end of gun related deaths per 100,000. Those #’s would not support the stat you cite. Maybe your stat is based on your definition of “gun related tragedies.”

rather odd the States with the most difficult Permits and regulations are the states with the most gun related tragadies New York, New jersey,Conn. & Mass.

Actually, that’s not true. Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, California, and Nevada are the top 5 states with the highest rates of gun related homicides. Louisiana, for example, has 10.13 gun deaths per 100,000 residents, compared with 2.67 and 2.65 in New York and New Jersey, respectively. MA and CT are 1.53 and 1.40, respectively. Where are you getting your information…I’d like to see it.
