Storms Systems Could Bring Sleet, Freezing Rain

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Another week. Another winter storm system headed to the Tri-State area.

CBS 2′s Meteorologist Elise Finch says two systems — one from the north and another from the south — will combine and head our way early Tuesday.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Carl Babinski expects the snow to arrive after midnight on Tuesday. The off-and-on snowfall will continue Tuesday morning and leave up to 2 inches of accumulation.

By Tuesday night, however, the precipitation is expected to change over to rain and a wintry mix for parts of the area.

On Wednesday morning, sleet and freezing rain threatens to leave area roads icy for the morning commute. The storm could end with a brief period of snow on Wednesday night.
