Wow, a lot of haters out there. If you have ever been to Green Bay, you would know that not a single person there expects anything from anyone else. We live and breath football and our team speaks wonders for itself on and off the field. I personally love New York and think it noble that the colors were displayed, and show gratitude to the city for the honor. A waste of money, I disagree.

    • Dan

Agreed. And by the way, it’s not a waste of money — the empire state building is lit up every night anyway. Green and yellow don’t cost any more than any other color, obviously! Haha.

Those who are making an issue out of it in terms of cost obviously don’t live in NYC.

  • pugphan

Wow! They couldn’t show the colors of a saint, but they did for a silly game of feetball Mind boggling indeed.. smokersodysseycom

    • Dan

“A saint?” Are you referring to the Pope, who is not a saint — even under the Catholic religion’s 2,000-year-old, pre-intellectual, pre-scientific worldview?

We can just assume Catholicism is correct, right? Sad.

  • Jamey

I’d say that the city of Green Bay should illuminate its tallest building in green and gold, but Lambeau Field already sports Packer’s colors…

  • buddy boy

Green for the green bay packers and pink for the nyc fudgepackers

  • coco

Yeah, just like the 2 NY teams that play in NJ!

  • Brenda L. Decker-Birrenbach

Well Tim Baker if you are on Facebook the answer to you question is apparently BOTH sets of colors!

  • rockrodes

Well it`s amazing how much money is just wasted just on something like this, I mean the Superbowl LOL
America sure burns the money like a dripping faucet man, unbelievable then people complain they are in debt LOL
Haste is waste as they say

    • Dan

It doesn’t cost extra money to light up the empire state building. It’s always lit up, and — I realize this may come as a shock to someone as thoughtful as you — but green and yellow don’t cost extra money when compared with other colors.

That was NOT FOOTBALL! That was ARENA BALL! FOOTBALL is played in the snow and ice… MUD and soforth

  • Mr.E

Hilarious! They wouldn’t change the colors to honor the Pope but yee haw, a football team? Sure ’nuff!
How about changing it blue for the officer in Long Island that was just killed by a trucker that fell asleep at the wheel?

    • Chris

The pope is a gay man….who leads gay people thats why

  • Hoyt Pembrooke

Big money comes in from clothing merchandise plus the bars are full here.
Sure beats worrying about that big asteroid coming to destroy Earth

  • rockrodes

    Is thiis now all LED?
Empire State Building did massive changes to those lights
    I think?

    • ray

oooooo, I don’t like NYC honoring the super bowl winner on Monday. Not after one of its own teams was in the AFC Championship game, and especially if its the Steelers, the ones who beat them

      • Dan

Ray, this is just one of the many reasons I’m proud to be a New Yorker. The best of us honor those who deserve it, and do not let arbtrary jingoism/regionalism get in the way.

      • har

i’m a steelers fan, and if we would have won i wouldn’t expect to see steeler colors flown over new york, ya just don’t do it. that is unless it’s part of a bet.tsk, tsk, ny tsk, tsk
