Long Island Police Probe Teen's Death

YAPHANK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police on Long Island are investigating the death of a high school senior who they say fell asleep after a night of drinking and never woke up.

Detective Lt. Gerard Pelkofsky says Matthew Yuhas was drinking alcohol with friends at a neighbor's house in East Moriches Saturday night. He says he fell asleep at some point and was discovered unresponsive late Sunday morning.

The Suffolk County medical examiner pronounced him dead at 12:20 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy and toxicology tests were planned to determine the cause of death.

Pelkofsky says police weren't prepared to say whether alcohol was the reason he died.

Yuhas attended Eastport-South Manor Senior High School. A memorial service was held for him on Monday.
