Two Brooklyn Women Plan To Eat Dog Food For A Month

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — It’s meal time and the dogs aren’t the only ones ready to chow down. Two Brooklyn women believe their dog food recipe is so healthy that they are willing eat it too.

Alison and Hannah invited 1010 WINS’ John Montone to join in on the meal. Listen here to see if he accepted their offer!

Alison Weiner and Hanna Mandelbaum, the co-owners of Evermore Pet Food, plan to eat the dog food daily beginning March 1. The duo plans to stream the proof at

Weiner said her dog, Connor, benefits from the hormone-free meat and fresh produce.

“His coat has gotten a lot shinier, he has a lot more energy and for dog people out there his poop is really, really great to pick up,” Weiner said. “I had to go there, you have to, when you have a dog you gotta go there.”

Weiner and Mandelbaum, who both went to the University Of Chicago, started the business in 2009 to produce healthy food choices for pets.

Weiner once trained to be a health supportive chef in the city and Mandelbaum has experience as a dog walker and trainer.

According to the company website, Evermore pet food is made of fresh, human-grade ingredients, USDA-certified antibiotic and hormone-free meats and no by-products, fillers, corn, soy, wheat, potatoes, or salt. The food is currently sold throughout New York City and the mid-Hudson Valley.

“This is not about the shock value of eating dog food,” Wiener said in a press release. “We want to stand behind our claims by demonstrating the integrity of our products.”

This is a pretty unimpressive publicity stunt. Just because something is healthy for humans doesn’t mean it’s healthy for dogs. In fact, our nutritional needs are quite different. Make sure you check with your veterinarian before jumping on the “healthy dog food” bandwagon.

Please tell us if these two ladies lose much weight on this rather strange diet. Could be yet another celebrity in the wings waiting for an info commercial on this one.

Good luck ladies !!! You found a great niche market and are doing something wonderful for our beloved dogs !!!

At least white people can afford it without needing to steal it.

I wanted to ask one of the girls out for a date, but, I wouldn’t feel right driving down the road with her in the back seat, with her arms and head hanging out the window, howling at people……..

  8. Lewis says:

this is good news because they are marketing their products indirectly.

  10. Cora Castro says:

I can not imagine how such a processed food can be healthy for a human being. Mankind could not invent anything healthier to eat than fresh foods produced by nature, such as vegetables, grains and fish.

    1. BigEZ says:

I think they should eat the dogs instead? Atleast you know they have been brought up on a good diet!! Come to think of it I could just go a nice poodle kebab with French fries.

    2. Hanna says:

The whole point with Evermore is that it is not overly processed. It uses fresh ingredients!

  11. BigEZ says:

    Well I be dog gone!!
    They must be barking mad!
I bet they end up feeling Ruff! Ruff! after this!

  18. MFB says:

Survey seems to miss the point! It’s not whether you’d eat “dog food”, it’s whether, like these ladies, you’d eat food which is human grade but formulated for a dog’s nutritional needs and palate. In this case it is chicken, carrots, etc– so, yes, absolutely. But that doesn’t mean I’d dig into old school supermarket dog food!
