Red Oak Tree Crashes Through House In Glen Rock

GLEN ROCK, N.J. (CBS 2) – Strong winds nearly destroyed a family's home in New Jersey on Saturday when a 90-foot red oak crashed through a roof in Glen Rock.

Sources said the family is out of town while the elements continue to make a mess of the house.

"They're lucky they weren't here, but that's a terrible mess they have here," neighbor David Hughes said. "Almost rebuilding the entire house, I guess."

The weather prevented tree service crews from getting a tarp up over the damage, but they hope to take care of it on Sunday morning.

Neighbor Margaret Hughes said it was so loud that she rushed out to see the damage.

"A very loud, very loud gust of wind, then we came out. It was devastating," she said.
