B&C Show Blog & Audio: Choose Your Weapon

Bobby Dwyer

On the heels of Carmelo's 'coming home' party at the Garden Wednesday night, the Nets introduced their new star to the assembled media yesterday afternoon.  Knicks GM Donnie Walsh admits that he had no idea the talks between the Nets and the Jazz were even going on, which raises the question; would the Knicks have been better off pursuing Deron Williams rather than Carmelo Anthony???  Boomer & Craig don't think so; in fact Craigie is pretty certain that the Nets will be unable to sign Williams to a contract extension and that the Knickerbockers will be his next destination.  Then Craig took issue with Joel Sherman for his article in today's NY Post in which he outlines why the Yanks will acquire Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter before the trade deadline, mind you the season hasn't even started yet.  Rounding out the Open, the guys talked about Rex Ryan and his latest prediction that his Jets are going to win the Super Bowl.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't we heard this before???  Either way Craig doesn't care and he tells Boomer he loves 'Rexy' and wouldn't change a thing…

'Coming Home' is the name of the song by, Diddy – Dirty Money Ft. Skylar, and after Carmelo's Garden debut Wednesday night, a song that will be synonymous with the Knicks for a very long time.  This morning Craig asked Eddie to play the catchy tune and then proceeded to get all emotional.  Now although crying isn't perceived as the manliest of acts, you really can't fault Craigie, the man loves his Knicks.  Speaking of loving the Knicks, Wednesday night's game against the Bucks was the highest rated game on the MSG Network in 16 years, which led Craig to wonder what kind of rating 'Boomer & Carton in 60', which followed the game, received.  Al did not know the answer, but he did his best not to let Craig know he didn't know.  Eventually Jerry got to his update, during which Craig mocked the sports media for fabricating stories and Boomer talked about blocking balls…

We've all heard the word soothsayer before, but maybe never really gave much thought to what a soothsayer actually was, or even what a sooth is.  Well, if you fall into that category today is your lucky day because Boomer and Craig, with help from Eddie (and very little help from Al) they got to the bottom of the meaning…

DNA

Craig pointed out that there are six owners/partial owners of professionally sports teams in the tri-state area that all hit the 'DNA Lottery' at birth.   John Mara – Giants, Jeff Wilpon – Mets, Woody Johnson – Jets, James Dolan - Knicks, Hank & Hal Steinbrenner – Yankees are the six men we are talking about here.  With that established Craig then pointed out how different the six men are and how differently they are all perceived in the media…

There has been a lot of chatter since the Craig Carton led Morning Show Staff was beaten in a touch football game to the crew over at MSG.  Since the game Craig has been busy placing blame to the point that Boomer got fed-up and told him that his QB skills were not up to par.  From there Craig abandoned his team to start another and with that move, we got what you call a colossal upgrade at the QB position.  Craig is obviously starting to feel the pressure of putting a team together, right now it's just Craigie, Jerry 'Rello' and Dominique, so he reached out to Carl Banks (pictured above doing some shopping), who technically is employed by the FAN, but Boomer didn't seem too worried, pointing out that the man once known as 'killer' on the football field, has gotten a little soft in retirement…

Today we introduced a brand new segment to the Morning Show called 'Al's Boring Tweets' and as the title indicates; in this segment Al reads what he believes to be his 'Top 5' tweets of the week.  There is also another telling hint in the title of the segment and I think you know where I'm going here; all 5 tweets were boring, as promised.  If you would like to follow Al on Twitter you can do so by clicking here

The guys got a call from Mike, who claimed to know the woman Boomer took to his junior prom back in the day.  Turns out Mike's claims may have been true, as the name he uttered did strike a chord with the Blonde Bomber.  Then Craigie broke into his best Marv Albert impression imagining how a certain blonde headed QB from West Islip made out on Prom-Night…

Carl Banks calls in to find out who he will be playing with when he takes the field for 'Team Carton'.  The conversation quickly turned into a war of words between the two new teammates, as Craig & Carl traded verbal jabs at one another before they had to be reminded that they are going to be playing on the same team…

For today's highly anticipated Moment of the Day Jerry played back what Craig thinks Mikhail Prokhorov should do in an attempt to convince Deron Williams that he should resign with the Nets.  Then we broke down Craig's leadership skills or lack thereof…
