Brooklyn Women On Edge After Park Slope Rape

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A rapist is on the loose in Brooklyn after a brazen daytime attack.

Police said an armed, masked man demanded money from a 22-year-old worker at a Park Slope bakery. When the victim said she didn't have any, the attacker forced the woman, who was working alone, to a back room and raped her just before 9 a.m. on Friday, police said.

Authorities declined to release further details about the incident to avoid identifying the victim.

Officials transported the victim to Kings County Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The NYPD described the suspect as a black male, 160 pounds, 5-feet-5-inches tall and wearing dark clothing.

Women in the area are on edge and hope the suspect will be caught soon.

"I hope they catch him. Rape is a very, very devastating thing, and I hope they catch him—whoever he is," one woman told 1010 WINS.

"I'm pretty cautious in regards to going out when I think I could be in danger, but yeah, that's definitely a concern. That's a huge concern," another woman said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
