KISSIMMEE, Fla. (CBSNewYork) Chris Young pitched two shutout innings and Russ Adams hit a three-run homer to lead the New York Mets to a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.

Young, a longshot to make the opening day roster, struck out two without allowing a runner.

Oliver Perez, who is hoping for a spot at the back end of the Mets rotation, allowed four earned runs and walked three in only two innings – although manager Terry Collins said he wasn’t concerned with the early struggles.

Pat Misch and Boof Bonser combined for five shutout innings for the Mets.

Rodrigo Lopez started for the Braves and threw two shutout innings.

Atlanta took an early 4-0 lead, but the Mets scored two in the sixth and took the lead on Adams’ shot in the eighth inning.
