Smithtown Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Street

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island are investigating the death of a 33-year-old man who was struck and killed while crossing a street in Smithtown.

Police say Seamus Byrne, of Smithtown, was crossing Main Street at Lawrence Avenue just before 2 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a car. Byrne was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Newsday says Byrne was out celebrating his birthday when the accident happened. The paper says Byrne had served in Afghanistan with the NY Army National Guard’s Fighting 69th Infantry Regiment and had earned a Purple Heart.

The driver of the car has not been charged.

You are a Sick Person. I know this Family personally and Seamus Didn’t drink.. He never drank. He served his country with distinction and was a Purple Heart recipient. He did this to allow you to vomit your hateful venom over the Internet. Your a coward. You need help..

A man was safer in Afghanistan than on the streets of Smithtown. That’s irony!
