B&C Show Blog & Audio: Knicks Win In South Beach

Bobby Dwyer

The Knicks made a statement in South Beach by not only beating the Heat, but holding them to under 90 points with a 91-86 win.  Now the question becomes how big of a statement did the Knickerbockers make???  Craig, who was proudly rockin' his Knicks gear, says that the sky is the limit for this team and can actually imagine a scenario where the Knicks could do some winning come playoff time.  Boomer is feeling pretty good as well, sans the Knicks clothing, and he just can't say enough about what Chauncey Billups brings to the table running the point for the new look Knicks and running it well.  St. Johns beat Villanova Saturday night and by doing so cost Craigie $100, as he made a wager with Boomer and it now looks like the Red Storm might crack the Top 10.  Duke Snider passed away at the age of 84 over the weekend and the guys paid respect to the legendary Dodgers centerfielder.  And last but not least (we maybe least) Oliver Perez made his spring debut, allowing four hits, four runs and three walks, but he is still left-handed…

Plus, Jerry's hyper-focused update, chants of DEFENSE and sharing nipple cream, 'The Grandy-Man Can' and changing the oil, Bill Buckner reflects on his memorable error and the '86 Mets, Steve Lavin stops by to talk about his streaking Johnnies, a Moment of the Day that becomes a 'web-exclusive' and a 'Georgia-Peach' does more than enough to 'Grab My Attention'…

Oh those New York Knickerbockers…Jerry had all the details from the Knicks big win over Miami and their 'Big 3'.  Carmelo led the way with 29 points, but it was Chauncey Billups that had the guys talking this morning, as the 2004 NBA Finals MVP came up very big, living up to his name 'Mr. Big Shot'.  Amar'e Stoudemire had a huge block of a LeBron James lay-up attempt in the closing seconds and then 'the King' missed a wide-open three that would have tied the game.  The Mets were in action against the Braves and play-by-play man Wayne Hagin had a homerun call that Craig thinks needs some work…

When Boomer and Jerry broke into a chant of DEFENSE Craig let the guys know how excited the chant got him.  He then referenced nipple cream and wondered aloud if it's okay to share nipple cream with one's spouse.  From there Craigie went on to tell everyone how great he smells, although Dominique said Boomer smells better.  Speaking of odors (foul odors), Craig told us all a charming story about how he 'passed wind' in an elevator with his wife over the weekend…

With meaningful baseball right around the corner, the guys started getting ready by warming up the pipes a little bit and singing a little 'Grandy-Man Can', ala Yankees radio PBP man John Sterling.  And generally when Sterling's name comes up, his radio partner Suzyn Waldman gets a mention and today was no different…

"The Summer of 86: The Rise and Fall Of The World Champion Mets" Premiere
(Photo by Michael N. Todaro/Getty Images)

Bill Buckner is a name that will forever be prominent in the landscape of NY sports because of his costly error in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series against the Mets.  As you know, the Mets went on to win the Series and Buckner will forever be remembered for his costly gaffe.  He joined B&C today to talk about MSG Networks four-part series,  'Summer of '86: The Rise and Fall of the World Champion Mets', which will premiere tomorrow (March 1st) on MSG…

The New York Knicks aren't the only team making basketball mean something in NY these days, as head coach Steve Lavin has the St. John's Red Storm back in the thick of things and preparing for a trip to the 'Big Dance'.  Now despite Craig constantly picking against the Johnnies, Lavin agreed to join the guys in-studio to talk about his team's success and what his first year has been like thus far in the Big Apple…

The guys went a little longer than expected talking to Coach Lavin, so therefore Jerry was unable to deliver his highly anticipated Moment of the Day on the air, but fear not all you loyal B&C fans, thanks to technology you can hear all about Craig air brushing his drawers in an elevator while in the presence of strangers…
