    where are we going?
think about the moment of crisis of this country and it is because politician careless for our community we have to blame ourself becuase we let them abuse us. we are entitle to, senior centers where our elderly go for their dosis of daily love.
what is wrong here? put yourself in their shoes, sometimes our seniors can not affort to pay a homeattendant and they go to the senior center for someone who cares for them, or to eat becuase they have to choose what to pay… food…medication or shelter…what about cutting budget for this senseless war, we are fighting the wrong enemy, we deserve to be inform… we have to go back to old years when Thomas jefferson wrote in the declaration of Independence”we hold the truths to be sel-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.
this apply not only to pilitician we gave our votes and now we are in a position that school are being closed and tuitions to pay for college are very high for our comminty to afford it, imagine your child in their teens with nothing to do and no prorams to keep them occupied, what is going to happen, a national desaster but who cares, poor will be always poor and that mentality has to change.
living our seniors and our children out of the budget is totally wrong, we have to unite to fight for our right… Thomas Jefferson most be very sad thinking his battle was in vaine

I can’t conceive Mike DeStefano died at age 44. He was a fantastic comedian. Although I haven’t met himin person, I admired him very much for being such a wonderfully warm man. We will miss him.

How about deporting illegal aliens and using the money saved to keep the senior citizens’ centers open?

This is really sad! When my grandmothers were alive, they loved going to their senior centers. The elderly need to have a place to meet with others and socialize. Some elderly even need the meals that the centers provide. We all have to protest against this and try to stop this from happening!

Our society seems to say that anyone over the age of 60 is a throw away. So many seniors have no one to watch out from them that these cutbacks may really lead to seniors starving to death. We need an adopt a senior organized. My parents died and I’m would gladly adopt a senior.

It is a shame that this situation has come to closing of these senior centers. Where will we go? for some of us our days are numbered our center is the only family and friends that we have. We can only pray that we will be spared and that our Governor have a heart. He have to realize that one day he may be in need of these services as he grow older. SHAME,SHAME, SHAME

The list of closing Senior Centers is damaged and could not be repaired? Is the Hamilton Grange Center on 145th Street in Harlem, NY on the list.

It seems that every time the budget needs adjusting the first thing on the chopping block is social services. It is a disgrace that the only way our leaders can think to trim the budget is on the backs of the very people who’ve paid their dues and ask for just a little consideration in their “golden years”. For most the only socialization or meal they get is at the very place the governor wants to take away from them. Between Misters Coumo and Bloomberg the cuts made in this area leave very little left in terms of quality of life for our seniors. And all I can say is shame on you both!!!

My father is 97 years old. He has said repeatedly that if he could not go to the Senior Center he would rather die than stay at home without any place to go and socialize with friends. What a terrible thing to do with Seniors. It is like throwing them away because they are old.

Just disgraceful! The Governor and anyone else who even thinks that the closeing of Senior Centers, even just one, has absolutely no understanding of human need and human kindness. It is just heartless. Whether or not this is a political ploy or not…it’s disgusting. Why not just line up seniors up against a wall and shoot them…..that’s your attitude, not mine! J. Cohen, a senior and retired teacher who not only frequents the centers but entertains the members who otherwise would be left without any quality of life.
