Torrential Rains Drench The Tri-State Area
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The Tri-State area has been pounded by torrential rain and high winds on Sunday with the potential for 1 to 3 inches of rain in many parts of the area.
While plenty of rain has already fallen, more is expected heading into the overnight hours. CBS 2 Meteorologist Elise Finch said the area could still see an additional inch or two of rain.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in affect for Eastern Columbia, Orange , Sullivan , and western Ulster counties in New York along with Sussex County in New Jersey. Freezing rain, sleet and snow will hit those areas due to colder temperatures.
The heavy rain will taper off and end after midnight as temperatures turn breezy and cooler. The low temperature will be near 40 degrees overnight.
As much as 3 inches of rain could fall in Northern Jersey and over parts of the Hudson River, where a flood advisory is in effect through Sunday night.
By Monday the weather's expected to be partly sunny and by Tuesday the sun is expected to return.
