Firefighters and EMTs arrived at the scene around 6:52 a.m. The last fire department unit left at 8:10 a.m.

EMTs treated the driver of a Chevy Camarro Z-28 who said her gas pedal got stuck, causing the car to accelerate and crash.

The building sustained structural damage.

The owners of the business, Design Upholstery, were not able to be reached at the time of the incident.

Firefighters cordoned off the area in front of the building as a safety precaution.

Steve Smith, Westport's Building Official, responded to evaluate the damage.

Westport PD blocked off that part of the roadway for the duration of the incident.
