'Pink Panther' Sculpture Expected To Fetch $20 Million Or More At Sotheby's Auction
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Got an extra $20 million or so and a thing for the Pink Panther?
Artist Jeff Koons' sculpture of the cartoon character hugging a topless blond woman is headed for auction at Sotheby's.
There are three of the sculptures in existence: One sits in the Museum of Modern Art, one in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and one is owned by a private collector.
Now the artist's proof is up for grabs.
The porcelain work will be auctioned May 10.
Another Koons sculpture, "Balloon Flower Magenta," went for $25.7 million at Christie's in 2008. In 1999, the last time a "Pink Panther" was sold, it brought $1.8 million.
