B&C Show Blog & Audio: Embarrassing & Inflammatory

Bobby Dwyer

Boomer spent a memorable evening with one of his boyhood idols, as Rangers legend Rod Gilbert accompanied Boomer for dinner and a Rangers game at the Garden.  The Blue Shirts capped off Boom's night with a 6-3 win over the Islanders.  Unfortunately, Boomer made it home in time to see a little 'Knicks in 60' which recapped the Knickerbockers 2nd straight loss to the Indiana Pacers and the Blonde Bomber did not like what he saw, which was very little to no defense at all being played by the Knicks.  Craig is convinced that the problem on the defensive end of the floor begins and ends with Mike D'Antoni and his offensive minded coaching style.  The Yankees made the news cycle by proxy if you will, as Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee went on a Philly radio station last week and said that the Yankees are an old team and it is because of that that he elected not to sign with them during the off-season.  Craig suspects the comments by Lee are sure to ruffle a few feathers and he was happy to add fuel to the fire…

Plus, we hear Cliff Lee's comments for ourselves and Boomer & Jerry break into song, Bill Walton stops by and manages to out talk Craigie, Adrian Peterson clearly does not get it, Gus Johnson expresses interest in 'choking-out' Craigie, Chelsea and Anthony prove they know very little about sports, Brook Lopez gives back and an 'Attention Grabber' with a curvy figure to ogle…

Before Jerry got to his first update of the morning, we got to hear the audio (courtesy of WIP) of Cliff Lee's comments saying the Yankees are too old to play for, then Jerry got into his groove and delivered a top-notch update, that was highlighted by a duet of Boomer & Jerry himself singing 'I'm Coming Home' to the best of their ability…

Bill Walton (pictured above along w/ B&C, not Al's best work) is one of the greatest college basketball players of all-time, capturing three straight 'Player of the Year' awards and two National Championships during his three years playing for UCLA's varsity squad.  His professional career was highlighted by a couple of NBA titles (1977 – Portland & 1984 - Boston) but marred by injuries.  Despite his injury plagued 14 year career, Walton was still elected in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and he was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996.  Walton also holds the distinction of being the only player to capture a NBA Finals MVP (1977), a league MVP (1978) and a 6th Man of the Year award (1986).  So with a resume like that and March Madness upon us, Mr. Walton was an obvious choice to chat with the guys so Al booked him to join B&C in-studio this morning and safe to say the 'Big Redhead' felt right at home…

As the NFL Lockout goes on and the owners and the players continue to negotiate through the media, there are sure to be some inflammatory remarks made by both sides, case in point, Adrian Peterson's comments to Yahoo Sports comparing the players place in the league to 'modern day slavery'.  Boomer and Craig talked about Peterson's take and how his remarks might be perceived by the general public…

Gus Johnson went on Sid Rosenberg's radio show in Florida (WQAM) and the two of them took a few unprovoked shots at both Boomer & Craig.  Johnson expressed his desire to 'choke out' Craig and the two of them could not hide their jealously of the Dynamic Duo's success.  Johnson went as far as to say that Craig's salary from MSG is the reason he is no longer employed by the Network.  B&C were actually amused by the whole thing and for the most part took the high road, but that didn't stop Craigie from taking a few shots of his own…

In an attempt to brighten up a dreary Wednesday morning, we played a little trivia/game show called 'Do You Know More Sports Than…'  Today we welcomed Chelsea into the studio and she was up against a listener named Anthony from Toms River, NJ.  Combined I think the two of them got about 4 questions correct, but it made for good radio…

Nets center Brook Lopez has been the foil of many of Craig's hilarious bits since he joined the NBA back in 2008 out of Stanford and today we learned he is scheduled to read the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to a group of school kids.  So before Jerry could get to his highly anticipated Moment of the Day, the guys imagined how the reading might go…
