N.J. Man Sues Four Loko Maker, Claims Heart Damage

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A New Jersey man who says he suffered permanent heart damage after drinking the alcohol- and caffeine-laced Four Loko beverage is suing its manufacturer.

Tire salesman Michael Mustica of Knowlton Township filed the lawsuit last week against Phusion Projects.

The lawsuit, first reported last week by The Press of Atlantic City, claims that during a visit to Atlantic City in October, Mustica drank 2 1/2 cans of Four Loko and suffered heart arrhythmia.

Each can of Four Loko contains 12 percent alcohol — the equivalent of three cans of beer.

Phusion spokesman Chris Hunter declined to comment Monday to The Star-Ledger of Newark but says the company still believes mixing alcohol and caffeine is safe. Phusion agreed to remove caffeine from the drink in November after complaints from the Food and Drug Administration.

you are right, it is not permanent unless you are very fat and stupid like Mr. Michael must be

Focking people want to hold everyone responsible for their actions except themselves!

Heart arrhythmia is not permanent heart damage, Unless they put a photo of him, I would assume he is a fat out of shape slob !

    • Average obese sue-happy american

Pork rinds aren’t a food group?! No way.

Do your research because heart arrhythmia exists in many forms, from mild to severe, some of which can be treated with medication and others that go away on their own. Some heart arrhythmia is permanent. Also, you should not “assume” when you don’t know the facts. Let the courts decide.

Ok my turn. Reading about stupid lawsuits like this drives me crazy and I am going to sue this ahole. This should never get to trial. Read what you eat, read what you drink, read period. No one forced you to drink it, so shut up.
