NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Chris Brown may need some anger management after the singer reportedly threw a fit in his dressing room following an appearance on “Good Morning America” Tuesday.

The 22-year-old singer apparently flipped out after host Robin Roberts persistently asked him about former girlfriend Rihanna, the trouble they had and whether he’d seen her since a restraining order against him was lifted last month.

The singer tried, unsuccessfully, to steer the focus of the interview back to his new ablum “F.A.M.E.”

“I think I’m past that in my life,” he said. “Today is the album day, that’s what I’m focusing on.”

“This album is what I want people to really get into, definitely this album is what I want them to talk about and that other stuff that happened two years ago,” Brown insisted after Roberts asked him how he was able to put the Rihanna incident behind him.

Once backstage, Brown reportedly screamed, smashed a window and ripped off his shirt before storming out of the building.

The Associated Press reports security was called but the police weren’t.

Following the alleged incident, Brown posted a message on Twitter saying, “All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I’m so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!”

He followed up by saying, “Thank you to everyone who supports my music!!! Key Word ( music) !!! Love y’all.”

ABC News issued a statement saying,” As always, we asked questions that are relevant and newsworthy.”

Brown had performed his latest hit “Yeah 3X” but left the studio without doing a second performance for the ABC website.

Later Tuesday morning, workers were seen replacing the broken window at the Times Square studio.

Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor after pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna.

He is scheduled to perform on the elimination round of “Dancing With The Stars” next week.

Harsh Reality I was thinking the same thing, why did Robin bring up Rihanna’s name. Rihanna is not involved with the new album. Whatever really happened between Chris brown and Rihanna took place TWO YEARS Ago give US a BREAK! Whatever happened to second changes! Watched the interview. The questioning was pretty soft, and he brought up the subject again with talk of forgiving his “enemies”. This guy wants free publicity for his new CD. If he’s not man enough, and mature enough to handle some basic softball quations about how he beat a major female celebrity, too bad for him. He comes across as an immature boy, in no way a man. I can’t believe people stick up for this jerk, much less buy his “music.”

The American public is the enabler in these situations.Their insatiable desire for any sort information and the reporting of every breath celebrities take feeds into this.
Quite simply, when these people act out they should face the same consequences as anyone else and the best disciplinary action would be to ignore them.
It seems when some stars reach a lull in their careers, some sociopathic act moves them back into the spotlight and the front pages of the tabloids.

What was the arrangement for Chris Brown to appear on GMA in addition to his music? Beforehand, aren’t matters agreed upon of what to ask and what’s taboo regarding the interview portion? Robin pushed too far to get a rise out of the star. Anything for shock value, huh…I’m not a fan of Chris Brown, never was, even before the Rihanna turmoil. But, knowing you are interviewing someone with a short fuse, and you continue to push and bully, then expect the worse. But, that’s probably just what Robin and GMA wanted for the sake of ratings? Chris Brown still needs anger mgmt guidance big time; but, in his defense, SHAME ON YOU, GMA!!! And, thank God no one got hurt outside from the flying glass.

He should have expected that hard-line questioning. It’s a shame he lost his cool because that is a part of redeeming one’s self: self-restraint, being humble, and accepting that as part of the consequences.

On the flip side, it definitely was messed up for the host to do what she did. There were probably more than enough hints to back off given to her. And that’s where she and society has it wrong. Although there is criticism for one to have self-restraint, there too is the border line that should not be crossed to start the mess in the first place. Static: Don’t start none, won’t be none.
