MONTEBELLO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Police are investigating a deadly accident in Montebello that left the 20-year-old driver dead Wednesday morning.

Police said it appears Andrew Statham, of Suffern, lost control of the 2005 Mustang on the winding suburban road and struck two poles before flipping over on Viola Road around 1:15 a.m.

The vehicle’s windshield was shattered in the collision.

Statham was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said Troy Saucier and Javier Human, both 20-years-old, suffered minor injuries.

Police said speeding contributed to the crash. No word on whether the wintry weather also played a role.
