NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – They look like normal business cards, but the service they’re selling is illegal, state Sen. Jose Peralta says.
“These are very explicit cards with nude women with telephone numbers on them that say, ‘Please call, delivery, we will deliver,’” Peralta says.

These cards advertising women in the prostitution industry are being found everywhere, including Corona.
“I don’t like it, and I complain many times with the guys who give the cards,” parent Maria Tepale told CBS 2’s Pablo Guzman. “They don’t say nothing – they just go away, and that’s all.”

“Imagine you’re going to church today, on Sunday; you’re walking your kids to school,” Assemblyman Francisco Moya said. “This is what you see, and what’s worse is that when you take the train, there’s men standing around distributing this.”
One woman said her children found the cards outside of P.S. 19 near Roosevelt Avenue.
“It’s not good for the children because when they see the card, they say, ‘Oh, Mommy,’” she said, adding that it’s tough to explain them to the young children.
When the cards are thrown away, they are often picked up by kids, who sometimes use them as trading cards.
Peralta wants to make distributing the cards illegal.

I’ve got an idea : Let’s all just call the numbers… constantly. Over and over!
I live in N.J., I’ll ask them to “deliver.” They won’t know who the actual customers are! The numbers will then become useless, and they will have to print up new cards. Publicize THOSE phone numbers, and THEY will become useless!

Will making distribution of the cards illegal include the kids’ using them as trading cards? If so, it will have a tough time in court, if it even gets there.

Its the law of supply and demand..as long as there’s a buyer there will always be someone selling. The one thing I am conserned is when a child or a woman is forced to commit the act.

If other states would follow Nevada’s thinking and regulate prostitution they would actually create a safer environment for everyone.
We need to get away from these morality laws – this 17th century puritan mindset.
What 2 consenting adults do behind closed doors is their business – whether money changes hands is irrelevant!
When you really think about it, laws against prostitution are downright stupid. But then again, we are a pretty stupid society.

teenage boys have been paid to hand out these cards under the 7 train for the last 30 years,, they act suprised like it is something new? also, the cops in that 105 precinct have been paid off by pimps and drug dealers for years- what a joke, this isn’t new news from anyone in the area.

It’s amazing the stupidity rampant in parents, school officials, pandering politicians and the media whenever the subject of sexuality and children is brought up. Parents who should be educating their children are so sexuality repressed that they are just sexual basket cases themselves. School officials who just follow insanely narrow-minded policies, and pandering politicians who use and sway popular bias of school officials who know no better clueless and ignorant and useless parents, just continue creating emotionally and sexually inadequate children who gain their sexual knowledge from other sources who are not helpful towards them acquiring a healthy sexual education in this country. Contrast this against other countries where television, responsible parents, helpful school officials, and politicians who are intelligent about sexual education, bring up sexually comfortable, emotionally confident, and educated children as young as 5 years, who understand sexual reproduction, pregnancy, female messes, use of prophylactic, and this has already shown that actually decreases child pregnancies, communicable diseases, and even sexual experimentation in the young. The U.S. still lives in the middle ages when it comes to responsibly educating children about sexuality, and the pitfalls of child pregnancy.

Give me a break. This State Senator is such an alarmist. The kids see worse on television and the internet. I bet Jose Peralta watches most of that stuff anyhow, as we’ve seen in the past with these crusading politicians
