Rockland County Mother Fights To Keep Daughter’s Killers In Prison

PEARL RIVER, NY (WCBS 880) – Lois Bohovesky says she still finds it difficult to see a mother spending time with her daughter.

WCBS 880’s Catherine Cioffi: There’s A Petition

“All of the time, now, when I see an older woman with a middle-aged daughter, it really really hurts,” says Bohevesky.

It has been 30 years since her 16-year-old daughter Paula was raped and murdered by two men blocks from her Pearl River home.

She didn’t just lose her daughter. She says she lost her whole world.

“There’s just that hole that’s there and you’re always aware of that hole,” says Bohevesky.

This Friday, she will go before a parole board to give a victim impact statement.

She says the two men convicted in her daughter’s killing should not walk out of prison.

“The main thing that I’m concerned about is that they’d be free to do it again,” she says. “I just think someone who’s capable of this kind of violence, they just not have a chance to do it again.”

Richard LaBarbera and Robert McCain were convicted of the October 28, 1980 crime.

An online petition to keep the men in prison has been posted at petitionforpaula.org.

Really Nathan? They did their time? They’ve paid and suffered enough, is that what you’re saying? Murdering a young beautiful girl who had her whole life ahead of her, doesn’t warrant keeping them in prison until they’re dead? Tell me something, Nathan….has Paula Bohovesky been dead long enough? Shouldn’t we bring her back to life and let her live as she was meant to now? Oh, that’s not possible? Well then it’s not possible to free these 2 monsters, sorry. I’d like to know just what you were convicted of, Nathan. Personally, I think you’re full of hooey, and for you or anyone to suggest that 2 cold blooded killers should be felt sorry for and allowed back into society is beyond the pale.

The guy who Killed Bobby Kennedy did his time and still is in jail for that murder so if they can do it for one they should be able to do it for another.
