One World Trade Center Staking Its Claim On Lower Manhattan Skyline

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – When the Twin Towers fell, it was personal for a lot of people. This was their skyline and their city.

WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell: One World Trade Center Headed For 104 Stories

“I guess it still hits home pretty hard for most people. I lost a few friends there, so [when] I see it going up, I feel like it’s something of a victory for us,” said one man.

Whether you’re in Brooklyn, Staten Island, or New Jersey, it’s becoming clear that the new One World Trade Center is staking its claim to the Lower Manhattan skyline.

“It’s about time,” said one man.

Another man said, “I think it’s phenomenal. I mean I’ve been watching it everyday from my office window.”

“We’ve been waiting for something… to see something come up and really outshine the rest of the skyline. I’ve been waiting for it for a long time. It’s a good sight,” said yet another man.

The building is now at 60 stories on its way to 104, and 1,776 feet.

I’d love our Twin Towers back (as much as anyone else).

What if they rebuit them and they got knocked down again, James?

Why rebuild something totally different? They should be rebuilding the Twin Towers along with a memorial. Never mind this billion dollar building/memorial that no one wants. the majority of people want the Twin Towers back up taller and stronger than the originals. SIlverstein and his goons are using 9/11 as a renovation for their own greed. Why let the terrorists alter our skyline? By rebuilding the Twin Towers, we will be healing ourselves psychologically and physically. SAY NO TO THE “FREEDOM TOWER”….. REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!
