UConn's Jim Calhoun Rings NYSE Opening Bell

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — UConn men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun rang the New York Stock Exchange's 9:30 a.m. opening bell on Friday.

It's the latest honor for the Huskies, who beat Butler 53-41 on Monday to win the NCAA championship. The stock market can only hope to close as well as Calhoun's Huskies, who won 11 straight games in the postseason, including five games in five days during the Big East Tournament in New York in March.

Next Wednesday, star guard Kemba Walker, a New York native, is scheduled to throw out the first pitch at a Yankees baseball game.

The Huskies also will be honored with a parade back in Hartford on April 17.

This is UConn's third men's basketball title. Calhoun also led the team to national championship seasons in 1999 and 2004.
