Mets' Sandy Alderson: Jason Bay Still Two Weeks Away

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Ailing outfielder Jason Bay first thought he'd return to the Mets' lineup on April 9.

New York put the kibosh on those plans, and on Tuesday Mets general manager Sandy Alderson admitted Bay's "loose and subject to revision" rehab schedule might have him out until April 26.

At the earliest.

"These injuries are hard to predict," Alderson said. "I think it's unrealistic to expect him before then."

The team officially placed him on the 15-day disabled list last month after Bay strained his rib cage in a spring training game against Washington.

Ronny Paulino is scheduled to rejoin the Mets on the same date. Alderson said "there's probably less uncertainty" surrounding the catcher's return.

"In terms of his physical condition right now, that looks like a pretty firm date," he said.
