ASPCA To Host Harlem Block Party Saturday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The ASPCA is hosting a block party to benefit New York City's pets on Saturday.

Owners can bring their to the Harlem event, where the animals can receive free spay/neuter surgery, as well as free vaccinations and microchipping.

"The ASPCA encourages all pet parents to get their cat or dog spayed or neutered," said Aimee Christian, vice president of spay/neuter operations for the ASPCA. "It is not only an important step in reducing overpopulation and homelessness, but provides significant health and behavioral benefits to pets as well."

The day-long event will also feature adoptable pets, pet accessory giveaways, pet care training and opportunities to win prizes like an iPod shuffle and a weekend getaway.
