Westchester Businessman Launches 100 Days Of Giving To Charity

PORT CHESTER, NY (WCBS 880) – After winning “Oprah‘s Big Give” back in 2008, Port Chester businessman Stephen Paletta got to thinking – ‘Wouldn’t it be great if everyday people could set up their own foundations?’

That’s how his new business GiveBack.org got started.

“It really makes everybody, the ordinary man or woman on the street, a philanthropist,” says Paletta. “It is this personal gratification where you can see the impact that you’re having.”

While you can put money into your foundation and others can donate, the web page also collects a portion of the money you spend at certain stores and puts it in your foundation for you to donate.

“I could tell you a million reasons why it’s so good to give, but I think at the end of the day, it comes down to one simple thing. It feels really good when you give and you give back and you make a difference,” says Paletta.

Also on the site is 100 Days of Giving campaign where you could win a $1,000 daily prize or $50,000 grand prize for your foundation.

    Dear Paletta,
I am a young lady from South Africa, and yesterday I was watching an Oprah show when I heard about you and your idea and it was my first time hearing about you and It got me interested and thinking, I’ve always liked to giveback, but don’t know how since I’m not rich or anything iam any ordinary citizan. Would like to carry your idea here in South Africa. I always say this to myself when I get rich someday I wish that god never takes away the idea that I’ve always had of giving, instead of having 4 houses and 4 cars give to the needy, take a child to school, open a soup kitchen, something
