Arraignment Set For Boyfriend Of Murdered Brooklyn Woman

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A 36-year-old man is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of his girlfriend.

Police said a Daniella Mannino, 34, was found stabbed to death around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in a bathtub at Brian Sohtz’s Brooklyn apartment.

The NYPD said Sohtz was arrested in Suffolk County. They said he was headed there when he called a relative who in turn called police.

Sandy Silverstein, a spokesman for Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes, said the victim is the daughter of Joseph Mannino, who is director of the district attorney’s office services department.

Hynes will seek a special prosecutor in the case.

People who knew the victim are stunned.

“She was great. I knew her my whole life. Every day we’d talk about life, you know? Good mother, good person,” one acquaintance told CBS 2.

Mannino reportedly has a 12-year-old daughter.

It was not immediately known if Sohtz had a lawyer.

Joey and Kahlid both have good points. Thanks for all the insights. It’s best not to rush to judgment and to keep an open mind while viewing from all sides.

    1. Christopher T. says:

Hey Kareem, If Daniella, her Daughter or any family member was your close friend, then would you keep an open mind??? Would you say “Gee, lets not rush to judgement on this cold blooded murderer who took a Mother away from her Daughter and family”? If that were the case, you would be marching to the beat of a different drummer!!!! Are you even remotely educated?!?!?!??? Go back to school and get your GED before you say something so ignorant!

  4. Khalid says:

Joey has a good point. In some religions and cultures there are consequences for infidelity.

    1. ham7 says:

yes Khalid, and in those cultures, the women is always wrong and guilty. For instance if she is raped, then it must have been her fault for enticing it, so she needs to be flogged and the rapist is a hero for singling out this wicked women.

I hope you detect the sarcasm.

  5. Christie says:

I knew them. he was cheating. long story….but nothing will brig back my ffriend.

  6. young says:

No Joey, he was cheating. The victim had broken off the relationship, like most relationship one party was not willing to let go. I read this story and had thought the same thing at first, it’s easy to assume blame. My thoughts and prays go out to the parents, relatives and friends of the victim. (PEOPLE PLEASE USE A TWO OR THREE SECOND RULE.)

  7. Joey says:

Was she cheating on him? Who is the father of the child?

  8. HARLEM GOING H.A.M. says:

    PRETTY LADY, SAD STORY.
PS. HEY JOEY. THERE’S NO GOOD REASON TO KILL YOUR GIRLFRIEND. I FELL SORRY FOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND TOO.

  9. cathy says:

Joey, that is a typical punk a$$ bensonhurst remark

  10. cathy says:

Are you saying that it is acceptable to murder someone if they have a motive or if they are cheating? Did you for a second think that there is now a poor inicent 12 year old child without her mommy? Guess the boyfriend does not need to worry cause his children are not motherless. What about those poor heartbroken parents of that young lady? Joey, why bother commenting you f’ing moron

  11. Bandele says:

Hey Joey, you need to apply the brake on your insinuation. At least have some courtsy for the departed. Decapitation is not the remedy for a chronic headache, even if she had cheated on him, murdering her is definitely not the solution to the issue. I see no reason why you should try to apportion the blame to the poor lady. Man,your line of thought is attractively repugnant.

  12. Belladonna says:

Maybe he was just crazy? Why put blame ont he victim already Joey?!?! A-hole!

  13. Joey says:

What was the motive? Was she cheating on him?

    1. Khalid says:

Joey has an excellent point. In some religions and cultures there are consequences for infidelity.

      1. ham07 says:

yes Khalid, and in those cultures, the women is always wrong and guilty. For instance if she is raped, then it must have been her fault for enticing it, so she needs to be flogged and the rapist is a hero for singling out this wicked women.
