North Shore Animal League America Holds Pet Adoptathon This Weekend
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Do you have a case of puppy love?
If so, North Shore Animal League America is holding its 17th annual 36-hour Pet Adoptathon this Saturday.
More than 700 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats will be looking for a happy home at the event.
"Adopting a pet is saving a life," said Devera Lynn, vice president of communications at North Shore. "This weekend's pet adoptathon is really about raising awareness about going to a shelter and rescuing a life."
The event will be family-friendly: kids who aren't drawn by the magnetic lure of cute puppies and kittens can play video games or enjoy some cotton candy. Other food and drink will be available as well, and there will be spots to relax.
But mostly, there will be animals looking for a loving family.
"There are so many beautiful animals that are waiting for homes," Lynn said.
