NFL Star Helps Boy After Mom’s Suicide Plunge

NEW YORK (AP) — NFL linebacker Ray Lewis is helping a 10-year-old New York boy whose mother drowned herself and three children by driving a van into the Hudson River.

The surviving child, La’Shaun Armstrong, will be at a Manhattan fundraiser of the United Athletes Foundation on Saturday night. Some of the proceeds will go to him, including scholarship money.

The Baltimore Ravens star says he reached out to the child as soon as he heard about the April 12 tragedy. The boy escaped through a van window. La’Shaun’s mother reportedly was distraught over an argument with her boyfriend.

La’Shaun told the Daily News that meeting the 35-year-old linebacker was “awesome.”

Lewis says the boy needs mentoring from a father figure. His biological father, Todd Johnson, is in prison on a robbery conviction.

Do any of you know what Ray Lewis did in that bar a few years back? He’s now busy trying to in vain to get himself back into heaven.

This is our NYC fairy tale that should capture plenty….

All I can say is wow, this is amazing for something like this to take place. I admire what Mr. Lwis has done for this little boy and just like Mr. Lewis stated; this boy will need a lot of mentoring, love and a true father figure in his life.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Lewis and his family.

As mentioned from several other bloggers, MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY; Mr. Lewis, and the young boy who is going to be receiving love and blessings from Mr. Lewis.

It’s great to see that this child is going to be looked over now that the spot light and the cameras are all off. As I watched and followed this story when it first unfolded up until the last day of the funerals, all I could do was throw up in disgust over the majority of the family members seeking the moment to jump in front of the camera looking for face time, but not one soul took the time to discuss that this young boy would be loved and raised by the rest of his surving family members.

Once again, GOD bless you Mr. Lewis, this child ceratinly will need a life long line of mental sessions in counseling and unlimited love and definitely no abuse from his caregivers.

You have just forged hope for this little boy. Now everyday that this boy awakens and before he falls asleep; you will always be on his mindand in his prayers. You will be this little boys HERO for life!

Mr. Lewis, me and my entended family would like to thak you for your courageous actions to help another in desperate need of love; and it came without any strings attached.
