Body Found In Passaic River Likely Missing NJ Man

CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities believe a body found in the Passaic River this weekend is that of a Paterson man who went missing last month after being released from a northern New Jersey hospital.

But whether the body found Saturday in Clifton is 58-year-old Cedric Smith won’t be known until an autopsy is performed Monday. Authorities also hope it will determine the cause of death.

Smith was last seen April 21, when he left St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. He was being treated there for seizures, and family members say he was planning to travel to Jamaica two days later.

Relatives were not initially concerned when Smith didn’t come straight home because he appeared to be doing well in the hospital.

But they reported him missing when he didn’t return home that night.

Everytime I or anyone I know is discharged from a hospitalj they make a hospital staff member take patient in a wheeelchair to the front door and sign discharge that another adult is there to take person home. Why wouldn’t his family pick him up after his seizures when he is released? Maybe ambulance brought him, so how would he get home…..transit bus? Does he have fare on him or would he be forced to walk…..why wouldn’t family get him even if he was feeling better after his seizure?

According to the title of this article, it would seem that there are people in the Passaic River who are not missing. We should all be on the look out for these non missing people.

  5. Miami Florida Police are the ones to blame for 911! Police corruption and abusing women in Homestead Florida in the year 2000!

Casandra, I’d love to hear the logic behind this one.
