Weekend Movie Wrap: Thor, Something Borrowed, Jumping The Broom

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- There are some interesting choices at the box office this weekend. A controversial Oscar-winner makes his return to the big screen, a couple of romantic comedies, and the latest Marvel Comics superhero is here. Let the summer blockbuster season begin, Katie McGee reports.

In "Thor," Chris Hemsworth is the legendary god of thunder who has clearly upset his father Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins. Odin banishes his hotheaded son to Earth as punishment.

Thor lands in New Mexico, right at the feet of Dr. Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, but danger has followed him, putting all of them at risk.

Also in theaters is "Something Borrowed."

Ginnifer Goodwin plays Rachel, a successful but single lawyer, who finds herself torn between her BFF Darcy, played by Kate Hudson and her law school pal Dex, played by Colin Eggelsfield.

Dex also happens to be Darcy's fiance.

So, who will choose whom?

You'll also find "Jumping The Broom" in theaters.

Paula Patton and Laz Alonso are a couple whose quick courtship leads to chaos when their very different families don't meet until the wedding weekend.

Out in limited release is "The Beaver." Mel Gibson stars as Walter, a man who turns to a puppet to pull him out of the depths of depression.

"The Beaver" was directed by and also stars Oscar-winner Jodie Foster.
