Prosecutors Probing Death Of Northern NJ Toddler

BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) -- Prosecutors in northern New Jersey are investigating the death of a toddler who died several days after apparently being injured at home.

Twenty-month-old Jonathon Kuzminski died Friday at a local hospital, but it wasn't immediately clear what caused his death.

Authorities say his mother sought help after she came home from work Monday night and saw her son was breathing abnormally.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio told The Jersey Journal of Jersey City that it appears the child sustained traumatic brain injuries and said his office's homicide squad is investigating.

But DeFazio declined further comment and would not disclose specific details on the boy's injuries. And it wasn't clear who was watching the child at the time he was injured.

An autopsy was due to be performed Saturday.
