Steinbrenner Says He Has No Problem With Derek Jeter

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner says he has no problem with team captain Derek Jeter supporting Jorge Posada.

Posada pulled himself out of the lineup over the weekend, saying he needed a day off. Jeter later said he saw nothing wrong with what his pal did.

Steinbrenner tells The Associated Press that he's OK with Jeter backing his longtime teammate. But Steinbrenner is miffed the Yankees got swept over the weekend at home by Boston, leaving them with a five-game losing streak.

The Yankees held a conference call Monday with Jeter, team president Randy Levine, general manager Brian Cashman and managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner. Jeter says everyone is on the same page.

Posada was not in the lineup Monday night for the series opener at Tampa Bay.
