Steinbrenner Says He Has No Problem With Derek Jeter

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner says he has no problem with team captain Derek Jeter supporting Jorge Posada.

Posada pulled himself out of the lineup over the weekend, saying he needed a day off. Jeter later said he saw nothing wrong with what his pal did.

Steinbrenner tells The Associated Press that he’s OK with Jeter backing his longtime teammate. But Steinbrenner is miffed the Yankees got swept over the weekend at home by Boston, leaving them with a five-game losing streak.

The Yankees held a conference call Monday with Jeter, team president Randy Levine, general manager Brian Cashman and managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner. Jeter says everyone is on the same page.

Posada was not in the lineup Monday night for the series opener at Tampa Bay.

What a bunch of malarchy. enough of the public getting a peek into the Yankee laundry. Posada never liked Girardi as a teammate. Possada really didn’t like him as a manager. Now that Jorge’ is at the end of his career, and the engine light has come on a while back and smoke is billowing out the tailpipes Jorge’ the chauffeur is really PO’d when the owner/boss is ready to pull his license to operate.
