Group: Seaside Park Has Toughest Restrictions On Public Smoking In N.J.
SEASIDE PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Seaside Park is telling smokers to butt out. Smokers will no be permitted to light up on the beach, boardwalk, fishing piers and parks.
Violators will face a fine of up to $50 or up to two days of community service for the first offense. That escalates to $100 or five days on the second offense.

One anti-smoking group says Seaside Park has the state's most stringent restrictions on public smoking.
Seaside Park administrator Bob Martucci said the ordinance aims to protect health and the environment.

"Nobody wants to come to a beach, lay there or be walking behind someone on our boardwalk and have to breathe in second hand smoke, it's not good for them," Martucci told 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg.
Officials say secondhand smoke is a health hazard and cigarette filters are poisoning the environment. More than 100 municipalities in New Jersey now have some form of outdoor smoking regulation.
Meanwhile, the state legislature is considering its own smoking ban for all outdoor recreation areas.
