Police: Autopsy Shows Body Found On Beach In Amagansett Was Male

AMAGANSETT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A badly decomposed body found washed up on an eastern Long Island beach is an unidentified man, police said.

East Hampton Town Police Chief Ed Ecker said Tuesday an autopsy determined the victim was between 20 and 30-years-old and small in stature. His race was unknown.

The body was found Sunday by someone walking his dogs on a beach in Amagansett.

Amagansett is nearly 100 miles east of Ocean Parkway, near Jones Beach, where 10 sets of human remains have been found since December.

Ecker says homicide detectives have been contacted about Sunday's discovery. There is no evidence it is linked to the others.

In that case, six women, one man and one toddler have been identified. Two sets of remains have yet to be identified.
