NewsNEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Memorial Day weekend kicks off with lots of Fleet Week events around town.
Hundreds of Marines who are here for Fleet Week are taking part in Marine Day in Battery Park. Marines demonstrated weaponry, held pull-up competitions and posed for pictures with the public.

“This is great being to walk around and interact and talk to the guys,” said one man. “It’s just great to have them here.”
“I’m three generations Marine Corps in my family,” said one woman. “They’re unbelievable, I can’t thank them enough, so stop by every time you see someone in uniform and say thank you.”
The event is just one of many going on for Fleet Week. Marine Day is all day Saturday in Battery Park from 9am to 4pm.
