NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are looking for the person who shot a Bronx woman dead over the weekend.

At approximately 11 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a 911 call at Park Avenue and East 178th Street.

They found Claudia Millan, 29, shot in the head. EMS rushed her to St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Millan has four children. She was with her 2-year-old son Jamir when she was shot in the face, said neighbor Edith Rivera.

Rivera, 57, was watching Millan’s three other children: an 11-year-old son who is blind, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 7-year-old. She said rushed to the scene of the shooting after hearing the shot.

Millan was lying on the street, near her home.

“She was holding [Jamir’s] hand,” Rivera said.

Jamir is devastated and traumatized after witnessing his mother’s cold-blooded murder and keeps repeating the word “monster” and putting his hand to his face saying “pow, pow,” David Lopez, the victim’s nephew, said.

Police hope a nearby surveillance camera may provide crucial evidence in the shooting.

The victim’s husband said he doesn’t understand how someone could do this to his wife.

“That’s wrong, that’s wrong. Nobody deserves that. She got four beautiful kids and now what I got to do to tell them?” Juba Lassiter said. “She loved them kids; she loved them. She loved me. She loved living; she loved having fun.”

Millan’s brother, Antonio, said he thinks his sister was deliberately targeted.

“It was not an accident,” Antonio Millan said. “My sister was not killed randomly, it was deliberately done.”

The investigation is ongoing.
