Man Dies After Fall From Fire Escape In Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Authorities say a 58-year-old man slipped and fell to his death from a three-story fire escape of a Harlem apartment building.

The man was pronounced dead outside the West 135th Street building at around 10 p.m. Monday.

He apparently was trying to gain access to his mother’s apartment, where he once lived. The mother was away on vacation.

Police say the man slipped and no criminality is suspected.

The man’s name was withheld pending family notification.
